Junior Software Developer (Graduate Programme)

An e-commerce platform in Kariega needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The work is in Kariega, Eastern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
• Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
• Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
• Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
• Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
• Pair with junior developers to unblock them
• Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning

• Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
• Experience writing automated tests
• A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
• Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
• Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
• Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
