Job Description

You'll keep clients in good standing with SARS at an import and export trading house in Bellville. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is in Bellville (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Keep client tax files complete for five years
Respond to SARS verification letters and upload documents on time
Calculate IRP6 provisional tax for individuals and companies
Draft objections and appeals with supporting schedules
Advise on deductions such as retirement contributions and home office claims
Check SARS assessments and flag errors to clients
Track filing season deadlines and send reminders to clients

What you need

Registered tax practitioner with a recognised controlling body such as SAIT or SAIPA
Clear writing for SARS letters and objections
Degree or diploma in accounting or tax
At least 2 years of SARS eFiling experience
Comfortable handling tax season overtime

Helpful, not essential

Postgraduate diploma in tax
Customs and excise knowledge for import-export clients
Tax software experience such as TaxShop or CaseWare
