Packing season at a citrus packhouse near Polokwane means lots of shifts and lots of work. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Polokwane-based, with most of your time spent at a citrus packhouse. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Stick labels and batch codes on each carton
• Keep your packing station clean and free of stems and leaves
• Stack empty cartons and punnets ready for the next run
• Move pallets into cold rooms and record temperatures
• Build pallets to the correct height and strap them
• Help clean the line and machines at the end of the day
• Follow food safety rules like hand washing and no jewellery

• Arrives on time for early shifts
• Follows hygiene rules at all times
• Quick and neat with your hands
• Able to stand at a line for long shifts
• Basic counting and reading for labels
• Available for the full packing season including Saturdays

• Matric for QC posts
• Previous packhouse work
• Knowledge of export standards like GLOBALG.A.P.

• Transport from nearby towns
• Overtime pay during peak weeks
• Rehire for next season if you perform well

• Mention the fruit you have packed before and how many seasons. Packhouses rehire the fast, careful packers.
