Live-In Housekeeper and Nanny

You'll keep a retired couple's cottage in Alberton clean, calm and running smoothly for the family. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Location: Alberton, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked
• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer

• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines
• Good with children and patient

• A driver's licence for school lifts
• Basic first aid or child CPR course
• Non-smoker

• Transport money for live-out staff
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties

• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
