Live-In Housekeeper and Nanny

Cleaning, laundry and a hand with the kids: that is the week in a large estate home in Mamelodi. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Mamelodi-based, with most of your time spent at a large estate home.

• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Change bed linen and make beds
• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked

• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised

• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Transport money for live-out staff
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts

• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
