Load Planner (Road Freight)

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a bus and coach operator in Mokopane, that could be you. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

The site is in Mokopane; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles

• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• Good with Excel and email
• Matric
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers

• Previous truck driving experience
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
• Knowledge of cross-border documentation

• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Growth to transport manager
• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
