Load Planner (Road Freight)

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a distribution depot in Richards Bay, that could be you. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a distribution depot on the Richards Bay side of KwaZulu-Natal.

• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system

• Matric
• Good with Excel and email
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong

• Logistics or supply chain certificate
• Knowledge of cross-border documentation

• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Growth to transport manager

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
