Lodge Housekeeper (Game Reserve)

Guests at a conference hotel in Richards Bay will never meet you, but they will judge the stay by your work. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a conference hotel in Richards Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included
• Report maintenance faults like dripping taps or broken lights

• Well groomed
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Grade 10 or matric

• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate
• Experience with industrial laundry machines
• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges

• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
