Lodge Housekeeper (Game Reserve)

Guests at a boutique guesthouse in Secunda will never meet you, but they will judge the stay by your work. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Secunda-based, with most of your time spent at a boutique guesthouse.

• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day
• Report maintenance faults like dripping taps or broken lights
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date

• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Well groomed
• Grade 10 or matric
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor

• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests
• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate

• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges

• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
