Job Description

You'll keep the line running at a soft drink bottling plant in Johannesburg CBD, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a soft drink bottling plant in Johannesburg CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

The work, day to day

Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product

What you need

Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
Available for rotating day and night shifts
Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection

Helpful, not essential

NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
