Machine Assistant (Plastics Moulding)

You'll keep the line running at a meat processing plant in Richards Bay, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Richards Bay-based, with most of your time spent at a meat processing plant. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card

• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area

• Some basic first-aid training
• NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed

• Company transport on some night shifts
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay

• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
