Maintenance Artisan (Shopping Centre)

Handy with a drill, a paintbrush and a tap washer? The city hotel in Brakpan has a list waiting for you. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a city hotel in Brakpan. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Replace tap washers, cisterns, shower heads and toilet seats
• Keep the maintenance store tidy and track stock used
• Get quotes from outside contractors and let them in for bigger jobs
• Change globes, fluorescent tubes and plug covers (no DB work)
• Work through the maintenance log each morning and prioritise urgent requests
• Hang doors, fit locks and adjust sliding door rails

• Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store
• Grade 10 at least; matric is a plus
• Your own tools are a plus, but safe tool handling is a must
• At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references

• Pool and borehole pump experience
• Basic first aid certificate
• Experience with a work order system on a phone app

• Uniform and safety boots supplied
• Training on specialised equipment like gate motors and pool plant
• On-site accommodation at some estates
