Maintenance Artisan (Shopping Centre) – Fixed-Term

You'll fix what breaks and prevent what might, around the city hotel in Germiston. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The work is in Germiston, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Service pool pumps, gate motors and garage door openers
• Replace tap washers, cisterns, shower heads and toilet seats
• Work through the maintenance log each morning and prioritise urgent requests
• Hang doors, fit locks and adjust sliding door rails
• Change globes, fluorescent tubes and plug covers (no DB work)
• Patch, sand and paint walls, doors and ceilings between tenants
• Lay and repair floor tiles and re-grout wet areas

• Grade 10 at least; matric is a plus
• Basic painting, tiling, plumbing and carpentry skills
• Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store
• Your own tools are a plus, but safe tool handling is a must
• At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references

• Experience with a work order system on a phone app
• Basic first aid certificate

• Meals on duty at hotel sites
• On-site accommodation at some estates
• Training on specialised equipment like gate motors and pool plant
