Maintenance Artisan (Shopping Centre)

The rental property portfolio in Midrand needs a reliable all-rounder to keep the buildings safe and looking good. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a rental property portfolio in Midrand. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Hang doors, fit locks and adjust sliding door rails
• Keep the maintenance store tidy and track stock used
• Replace tap washers, cisterns, shower heads and toilet seats
• Work through the maintenance log each morning and prioritise urgent requests
• Get quotes from outside contractors and let them in for bigger jobs
• Service pool pumps, gate motors and garage door openers
• Change globes, fluorescent tubes and plug covers (no DB work)

• Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store
• Basic painting, tiling, plumbing and carpentry skills
• Honest and trusted to work inside occupied units
• At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references
• Grade 10 at least; matric is a plus
• Available for the occasional weekend emergency

• Gate motor and intercom repair skills
• Pool and borehole pump experience
• Basic first aid certificate

• On-site accommodation at some estates
• Uniform and safety boots supplied
• Training on specialised equipment like gate motors and pool plant
