Maintenance Assistant (School Grounds & Buildings)

The city hotel in Harrismith needs a reliable all-rounder to keep the buildings safe and looking good. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a city hotel in Harrismith. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Work through the maintenance log each morning and prioritise urgent requests
• Change globes, fluorescent tubes and plug covers (no DB work)
• Service pool pumps, gate motors and garage door openers
• Replace tap washers, cisterns, shower heads and toilet seats
• Check fire extinguishers, emergency lights and escape routes on a monthly checklist
• Clear gutters and fix minor roof leaks with sealant
• Hang doors, fit locks and adjust sliding door rails

• Basic painting, tiling, plumbing and carpentry skills
• Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store
• Grade 10 at least; matric is a plus
• Honest and trusted to work inside occupied units
• Available for the occasional weekend emergency

• On-site accommodation at some estates
• Training on specialised equipment like gate motors and pool plant
• Meals on duty at hotel sites
• Uniform and safety boots supplied
