Maintenance Assistant (School Grounds & Buildings) – Immediate Start

The retirement village in Stellenbosch needs a reliable all-rounder to keep the buildings safe and looking good. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Location: Stellenbosch, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Replace tap washers, cisterns, shower heads and toilet seats
• Get quotes from outside contractors and let them in for bigger jobs
• Service pool pumps, gate motors and garage door openers
• Check fire extinguishers, emergency lights and escape routes on a monthly checklist
• Hang doors, fit locks and adjust sliding door rails
• Clear gutters and fix minor roof leaks with sealant
• Keep the maintenance store tidy and track stock used

• At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references
• Honest and trusted to work inside occupied units
• Basic painting, tiling, plumbing and carpentry skills
• Grade 10 at least; matric is a plus
• Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store
• Available for the occasional weekend emergency

• Uniform and safety boots supplied
• Meals on duty at hotel sites
• Training on specialised equipment like gate motors and pool plant
