Maintenance Electrician (Night Shift)

The solar and backup power installer in Coega needs a qualified electrician who can work neatly and sign off safe installations. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The work is in Coega, Eastern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
• Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
• Complete job cards, material lists and test reports at the end of each job
• Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site

• Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
• Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence

• PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting
• Master Installation Electrician registration for three-phase CoCs

• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster
• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
