Maintenance Electrician (Night Shift)

The facilities management company in Tembisa needs a qualified electrician who can work neatly and sign off safe installations. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a facilities management company in Tembisa. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
• Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester
• Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
• Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
• Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows

• Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
• Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter

• N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
• Working at Heights certificate still in date
• PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting

• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
