Maintenance Fitter (Food Factory) – Fixed-Term

You'll keep machines turning and parts in spec at the packaging manufacturer in Benoni. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a packaging manufacturer in Benoni. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Machine shafts, bushes and keyways on a lathe and milling machine
• Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
• Respond to breakdowns and get the line running again safely
• Help with electrical fault-finding on motors and sensors as a millwright
• Follow the lockout procedure before any work on machinery

• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set
• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop

• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
