Maintenance Technician (Electro-Mechanical) – Fixed-Term

Bearings, gearboxes, pumps and lathes: this cement plant in Roodepoort needs your hands on them. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a cement plant in Roodepoort. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Respond to breakdowns and get the line running again safely
• Follow the lockout procedure before any work on machinery
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines
• Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
• Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
• Machine shafts, bushes and keyways on a lathe and milling machine
• Replace bearings, seals and couplings on pumps, gearboxes and motors

• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
• Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop

• CNC programming experience
• Hydraulic and pneumatic courses

• Paid overtime on shutdowns
• Chance to study further toward a technician diploma

• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
