Job Description

Planned maintenance and breakdown work on shift at the plastics injection moulding factory in Soweto. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The work is in Soweto, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What your day looks like

  • Help with electrical fault-finding on motors and sensors as a millwright
  • Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change
  • Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
  • Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS
  • Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
  • Build and repair press tools, jigs and moulds
  • Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines

Must-haves

  • Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set
  • Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
  • At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
  • Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
