Job Description

Good with a scan tool and a torque wrench? This fleet maintenance workshop in Durban Central needs you in a bay. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Durban Central (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

The work, day to day

Road test vehicles before and after repairs
Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services

You'll need

Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
Your own basic toolbox
Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets

Helpful, not essential

Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy
High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training

On offer

Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
