Master Technician (Premium Brand Dealership)

Fix it right the first time: that is the job at this used car dealership workshop in Isando. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Location: Isando, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted

• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop

• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training
• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience
• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy

• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer

• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
• Put your trade test date and the car brands you know best at the top of your CV.
