This fast-fit tyre and service centre in Upington needs a qualified mechanic who can handle services, repairs and electrical faults. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a fast-fit tyre and service centre on the Upington side of Northern Cape. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering

• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Your own basic toolbox

• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy
• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience

• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Staff discount on parts and services

• If you hit or beat your sold-hour target, say by how much. Workshop managers love that number.
• Do not leave gaps unexplained. Say if you were working for yourself or doing mobile repairs.
