Job Description

Machines set the pace at this meat processing plant in Cape Town CBD; you keep up and catch the faults. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a meat processing plant on the Cape Town CBD side of Western Cape.

What you'll actually do

  • Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
  • Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
  • Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
  • Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
  • Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
  • Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card

What you need

  • You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
  • Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
  • No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
  • Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
  • Neat, reliable and on time for shift start

Helpful, not essential

  • Some basic first-aid training
  • A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
  • Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine
