Job Description

Good factory hands stay for years, and this furniture assembly factory in George trains from day one. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a furniture assembly factory in George. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

  • Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
  • Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
  • Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
  • Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
  • Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run

Must-haves

  • Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
  • Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
  • Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
  • You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
  • Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
  • Basic reading and counting for batch sheets

Nice if you have

  • NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
  • A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
  • Some basic first-aid training
