Meat Processing Line Worker

You'll keep the line running at a plastic moulding plant in Midrand, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is in Midrand (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product

• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage

• NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate

• Path to machine operator after six months
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Company transport on some night shifts

• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
