Job Description

You'll keep the line running at a furniture assembly factory in Newcastle, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is Newcastle-based, with most of your time spent at a furniture assembly factory. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What your day looks like

  • Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
  • Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
  • Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
  • Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
  • Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
  • Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects

Must-haves

  • Available for rotating day and night shifts
  • No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
  • Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
  • Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
  • Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
  • Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check

Helpful, not essential

  • Previous work in a food or FMCG factory
  • A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
  • NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
