Mechanical Design Engineer (Materials Handling)

Design it, build it, fix it: mechanical engineering work at the paper and packaging mill in Vanderbijlpark. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The site is in Vanderbijlpark; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

• Plan and track preventive maintenance in the CMMS with the artisans and planners
• Hold the GMR 2.1 appointment and keep machinery safety legal on site
• Design conveyors, chutes and structures in SolidWorks or Inventor
• Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347
• Run vibration, thermography and oil analysis programmes on critical equipment
• Prepare the maintenance budget and report monthly on spend

• Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
• BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist roles
• Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations
• Able to manage contractors and budgets

• Finite element analysis skills
• Reliability or asset management certification
• Project management certificate

• ECSA registration fees and CPD paid

• Show results in numbers: downtime cut by a percentage, savings in rand, or a project delivered on budget.
