Mechanical Engineer (GMR 2.1 Appointment)

You'll keep the plant reliable and improve how it runs at the engineering consultancy in Khayelitsha. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is in Khayelitsha (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Mentor candidate engineers and artisans on technical problems
• Write scopes of work and compare contractor quotes
• Manage shutdowns: planning, spares, contractors and safe restart
• Plan and track preventive maintenance in the CMMS with the artisans and planners
• Analyse breakdowns with root cause methods and fix the cause, not the symptom
• Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347

• Registered with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate, depending on level
• BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist roles
• Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
• Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations
• Three or more years working as a qualified engineer, in industry or consulting
• Code 08 licence for site visits

• Reliability or asset management certification
• Project management certificate

• Company laptop and CAD licences
• Study support for postgraduate courses
• ECSA registration fees and CPD paid
