Job Description

This petrochemical plant in Mthatha needs a mechanical engineer who is as comfortable on the plant floor as in the design office. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Location: Mthatha, Eastern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What your day looks like

Sign off modifications and keep drawings and records current
Hold the GMR 2.1 appointment and keep machinery safety legal on site
Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347
Plan and track preventive maintenance in the CMMS with the artisans and planners
Design conveyors, chutes and structures in SolidWorks or Inventor

Must-haves

Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
Code 08 licence for site visits
Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations
Three or more years working as a qualified engineer, in industry or consulting
Registered with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate, depending on level
Able to manage contractors and budgets
