Job Description

This materials handling equipment manufacturer in Benoni needs a mechanical engineer who is as comfortable on the plant floor as in the design office. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a materials handling equipment manufacturer in Benoni. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347
Plan and track preventive maintenance in the CMMS with the artisans and planners
Write scopes of work and compare contractor quotes
Run vibration, thermography and oil analysis programmes on critical equipment
Sign off modifications and keep drawings and records current

Must-haves

Code 08 licence for site visits
Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
Registered with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate, depending on level
BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist roles

Helpful, not essential

Government Certificate of Competency (Mechanical, Factories)
Project management certificate
