Mechanised Development Miner (Trackless)

Have a blasting certificate and a clean safety record? The deep-level gold mine near Rustenburg needs your crew leadership. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Rustenburg-based, with most of your time spent at a deep-level gold mine. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Stop work when a condition is unsafe, using your right to withdraw
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting
• Do the early entry examination and make the workplace safe before the crew enters
• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure
• Record face advance, tons broken and support installed on the shift report

• Valid blasting certificate issued under the Mine Health and Safety Act
• No serious safety transgressions in your record
• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• At least 3 years underground, with at least 1 as a certificated miner
• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand

• First aid certificate current
• Rock engineering or ventilation short courses
• Shift Supervisor certificate or Mine Overseer learning

• Housing or living-out allowance
• Pension fund with employer contributions
• Medical aid and mine medical station access

• Write your blasting certificate number and date of issue near the top of the CV.
• Be honest about any section 54 stoppages you were involved in and what you changed after.
