Mechanised Development Miner (Trackless) – Experienced

Underground, the miner sets the pace and the safety standard. This deep-level gold mine near Secunda needs that person. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a deep-level gold mine on the Secunda side of Mpumalanga.

• Bar down loose rock and install support to the section's support standard
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting
• Book explosives in and out of the magazine and keep the register accurate
• Charge up holes and connect initiation systems for the blast
• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure

• No serious safety transgressions in your record
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• At least 3 years underground, with at least 1 as a certificated miner
• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training

• First aid certificate current
• Experience in trackless mechanised sections

• Housing or living-out allowance
• Underground allowance for every shift below surface
• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved
• Medical aid and mine medical station access

• Mines check your safety record with previous employers. Mention any safety awards or zero-harm periods your crew achieved.
• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
