Medical Billing Clerk (Specialist Rooms)

You'll keep the front of a specialist orthopaedic rooms in Mossel Bay organised so the doctors can focus on patients. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll be based at a specialist orthopaedic rooms in Mossel Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Code consultations and procedures with ICD-10 and CCSA or NHRPL tariffs
• Keep patient records locked and share them only with written consent
• Submit claims electronically and work through the rejection report daily
• Check medical aid membership and benefits before each consultation
• Open patient files and capture consent forms in line with POPIA

• Matric
• Confident with Excel and email
• At least 2 years in a medical practice, hospital or billing bureau
• Friendly on the phone and firm about outstanding accounts
• Experience on a practice system such as GoodX, Elixir, Medinol or Healthbridge

• Worked for a specialist discipline such as radiology, anaesthesia or orthopaedics
• Experience with hospital case management and pre-auth

• Bonus linked to collections at billing bureaus
• Normal practice hours with most weekends off
• Free medical consultations for staff at some practices

• Specialist rooms care about the discipline, so say if you've coded for surgeons, anaesthetists or radiologists.
• Keep your cover note short and error-free; front desk jobs are judged on how neatly you communicate.
