Merchandiser (Grocery Rep Route) – Permanent

Start in retail here: a wholesale cash-and-carry in Fourways trains packers who show up and work neat. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Fourways-based, with most of your time spent at a wholesale cash-and-carry. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Face products so labels point forward and gaps are filled
• Pack shelves from the back, rotating older stock to the front (first in, first out)
• Visit several stores on a merchandising route and send photos of shelves
• Weigh, bag and price fruit and vegetables
• Clean spills fast and put up wet-floor signs
• Help customers find products and carry heavy items to cars

• Polite with customers and happy to help
• Available for weekends, month-end and public holidays
• Grade 10 or matric
• Neat appearance and punctual
• Honest, since stock losses are checked closely
• Basic reading and maths for price checks

• Previous shelf packing or merchandising work
• Own transport for route merchandising jobs
• Being 18 or older for liquor store roles

• Paid training in store procedures
• Chance to move into till or department roles
• Travel allowance on merchandising routes
• Staff discount on groceries

• If you have ever sold anything, even at a school tuck shop or a family stall, list it. It shows you are comfortable with customers.
• Stores fill weekend and night-fill slots first, so write "available weekends and nights" in your CV summary line.
