Metallurgical Sampler – Fixed-Term

The coal washing plant near Lephalale needs operators who can run their area safely on a 24-hour shift cycle. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Lephalale-based, with most of your time spent at a coal washing plant. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Log plant readings and downtime on the shift log
• Adjust reagent dosing and air flow to hit recovery targets
• Take samples at set times and bring them to the lab
• Start up, run and shut down crushers, screens and conveyors in sequence
• Watch mill loads, cell levels and densities on the SCADA screens
• Call maintenance for bearing noise, belt damage or leaks
• Clean spillage and keep walkways free of hazards

• Grade 12 with mathematics and physical science
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station
• MQA minerals processing certificate at NQF 2 or higher
• Willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Basic computer skills for SCADA screens and logs
• At least 1 year operating a processing plant

• N4 to N6 or a diploma in Extraction Metallurgy
• Laboratory or sampling experience
• Forklift or overhead crane licence
