MIG Welder (Trailer Manufacturing)

The stainless steel equipment manufacturer in Gqeberha needs a coded welder who can hold a WPS and deliver clean, sound joints. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is in Gqeberha (Eastern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Follow the welding procedure specification for every joint you weld
• Roll and form plate for tanks, chutes and hoppers
• TIG weld stainless steel tanks and fittings with proper back-purging
• Keep a hot work permit open and a fire watch in place during shutdowns
• Read fabrication drawings and cutting lists before you mark out plate
• Grind and repair welds flagged by the QC inspector
• Set up MIG and flux-cored machines for long production runs

• At least 2 years of production or site welding after qualifying
• Valid welder coding to ISO 9606-1 or ASME IX in the processes the job needs
• Boilermaker or welder trade test certificate, or current SAIW welder qualification
• You can read fabrication and isometric drawings without help
• Medical fitness certificate for industrial sites, or willing to get one

• Rigging or crane signalling certificate
• Duplex or chrome-moly welding experience

• Leather welding PPE and auto-darkening helmet supplied
• Accommodation and meals paid on out-of-town shutdowns
• Shutdown bonus and site allowance for work away from home

• If you have worked shutdowns, name the type of plant, like refinery or sugar mill. It proves you know the site rules.
• List each coding separately with the standard, process, position and expiry date. "Coded welder" on its own tells a recruiter nothing.
