Miner Assistant (Underground) – Immediate Start

This underground coal colliery near Bloemfontein needs a miner who makes every workplace safe before a single hole is drilled. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The site is in Bloemfontein; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Stop work when a condition is unsafe, using your right to withdraw
• Record face advance, tons broken and support installed on the shift report
• Mark off drilling holes to the standard pattern and check the drilling
• Charge up holes and connect initiation systems for the blast
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure

• No serious safety transgressions in your record
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required

• First aid certificate current
• Shift Supervisor certificate or Mine Overseer learning
• Experience in trackless mechanised sections

• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved

• Underground allowance for every shift below surface
