Miner Assistant (Underground) – Immediate Start

This mechanised hard-rock mine near Vereeniging needs a miner who makes every workplace safe before a single hole is drilled. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Location: Vereeniging, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Hold a start-of-shift safety talk and deal with any unsafe condition
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting
• Do the early entry examination and make the workplace safe before the crew enters
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure
• Book explosives in and out of the magazine and keep the register accurate
• Stop work when a condition is unsafe, using your right to withdraw
• Record face advance, tons broken and support installed on the shift report

• At least 3 years underground, with at least 1 as a certificated miner
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required
• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training
• Valid blasting certificate issued under the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards

• First aid certificate current
• Rock engineering or ventilation short courses
• Experience in trackless mechanised sections

• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
• Be honest about any section 54 stoppages you were involved in and what you changed after.
