Miner (Conventional Gold Mining)

You'll lead a crew safely through drilling, blasting and cleaning at the underground coal colliery near Tzaneen. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is an underground coal colliery on the Tzaneen side of Limpopo. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Stop work when a condition is unsafe, using your right to withdraw
• Book explosives in and out of the magazine and keep the register accurate
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure
• Bar down loose rock and install support to the section's support standard
• Do the early entry examination and make the workplace safe before the crew enters
• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting

• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards
• Valid blasting certificate issued under the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand
• No serious safety transgressions in your record

• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved

• Mines check your safety record with previous employers. Mention any safety awards or zero-harm periods your crew achieved.
• Be honest about any section 54 stoppages you were involved in and what you changed after.
