Mobile Crane Operator (Up to 50 Ton)

Real machine hours on real projects, with the quarry and aggregate supplier working in and around Paarl. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Paarl, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Load tipper trucks without spillage or overloading
• Compact layers with the roller until density tests pass
• Watch for underground services and follow the banksman's signals
• Record machine hours and fuel on the daily plant sheet
• Backfill and compact around pipes in layers

• Medical certificate of fitness for operating mobile plant
• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents
• At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites
• Valid Code 10 licence for moving machines on public roads
• Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill

• PrDP for tipper or lowbed work
• GPS machine control experience on excavators or graders
• Certificates on more than one machine type

• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle
• Refresher training on new machines
• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites
• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week

• Put your operator certificate numbers on the CV. Site safety files need them before you start.
• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
