Job Description

Write clean code, review pull requests and fix what breaks at a software development house in Midrand. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Midrand-based, with most of your time spent at a software development house.

The work, day to day

Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs

What you need

You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Experience writing automated tests
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases

Helpful, not essential

Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
