Motor Mechanic (Independent Workshop)

This independent service workshop in Bellville needs a qualified mechanic who can handle services, repairs and electrical faults. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at an independent service workshop in Bellville. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Road test vehicles before and after repairs
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed

• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Your own basic toolbox
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets

• Air-conditioning regas experience with SAQCC Gas registration
• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training
• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience

• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target

• If you hit or beat your sold-hour target, say by how much. Workshop managers love that number.
• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
