Multi-Skilled Maintenance Hand (Retirement Village)

The retirement village in Umlazi needs a reliable all-rounder to keep the buildings safe and looking good. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Umlazi. Relocation is not covered for this one.

• Patch, sand and paint walls, doors and ceilings between tenants
• Check fire extinguishers, emergency lights and escape routes on a monthly checklist
• Clear gutters and fix minor roof leaks with sealant
• Lay and repair floor tiles and re-grout wet areas
• Replace tap washers, cisterns, shower heads and toilet seats
• Get quotes from outside contractors and let them in for bigger jobs
• Work through the maintenance log each morning and prioritise urgent requests

• Grade 10 at least; matric is a plus
• Code 08 licence to run errands to the hardware store
• Basic painting, tiling, plumbing and carpentry skills
• At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references
• Available for the occasional weekend emergency
• Your own tools are a plus, but safe tool handling is a must

• Basic first aid certificate
• Experience with a work order system on a phone app

• On-site accommodation at some estates
• Training on specialised equipment like gate motors and pool plant
• Meals on duty at hotel sites
• Uniform and safety boots supplied
