Nursery Worker (Seedlings)

Outdoor work with your hands on a citrus farm near Brackenfell; no experience needed for most posts. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The site is in Brackenfell; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Weed beds by hand or with a hoe
• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown
• Follow the re-entry times after spraying, as the signs show
• Tie up tomato and pepper plants in tunnels
• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs
• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety

• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Valid ID or work permit
• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
• Available for the full harvest season

• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage
• Seasonal accommodation on some farms
• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons

• If you have picked before, say which crop and how many seasons. Farms rehire experienced pickers first.
• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
