Nursery Worker (Seedlings)

You'll pick, prune and look after crops on a commercial seedling nursery near Ermelo through the season. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

You'll report in Ermelo. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Fill crates or bins and carry them to the collection point
• Keep your picking card or tag count for daily pay
• Weed beds by hand or with a hoe
• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety

• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders
• Valid ID or work permit
• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
• Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
• Willing to start at sunrise

• Previous harvest or picking experience
• Pruning experience on vines or fruit trees
• Tractor or quad bike experience

• Seasonal accommodation on some farms
• Farm transport from nearby towns
• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons
• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage

• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
