Nursing Assistant (Rehabilitation Unit)

A retirement village frail care centre in Boksburg needs someone kind and reliable to look after patients who can't manage alone. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a retirement village frail care centre on the Boksburg side of Gauteng. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity

• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends

• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve
• Code B or Code 8 driver's licence for home visits

• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
