Occupational Hygiene Officer (Mine)

The gold tailings retreatment operation near Bloemfontein needs someone who knows the MHSA inside out and can coach crews. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a gold tailings retreatment operation on the Bloemfontein side of Free State. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
• Inspect workplaces underground and on surface against the MHSA and the mine's standards
• Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks
• Lead incident investigations using a root cause method
• Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions

• At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine
• Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings
• Registered with SAIOSH, or working toward it
• Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
• Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit

• Diploma or degree in Safety Management or Environmental Health
• ISO 45001 auditing experience

• CPD and further study funded
• Retirement fund and medical aid
• Company vehicle on site
