Off-Site Video Monitoring Operator – Fixed-Term

Sharp eyes and a calm voice are the tools of the trade at an armed response control room in Bethlehem. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at an armed response control room in Bethlehem. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Log every event and action on the monitoring software
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Keep call-out times and client passwords up to date
• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio

• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts
• Matric
• Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard

• CCTV operator short course
• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform

• Path to senior controller or supervisor
• Shift allowance for nights
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment

• Mention any software you have used: alarm monitoring, CCTV or even call centre systems. Control rooms need people who learn screens fast.
• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
